As Election Day approaches, the voters have witnessed disgraceful spectacles from our city's mayor, the Bergen County Democratic Organization and the national Republicans.

On the local level, the Suburbanite reports:

Past investigations by the Northern Valley Suburbanite and The Record had traced a reported $50,000 from developers, attorneys and individuals of the Planning Board to the mayor's campaign efforts.

But the Mayor opposes the City Council's unanimous passage of legislation that would make such abuses less likely.  Why?  Because "it lacks teeth."

Is the mayor posing as an impassioned opponent of his own behavior? Or is he just begging for rougher treatment?  

Kinky.

At the County level, the Bergen County Democratic Organization, with the shocking collusion of Congressman Steve Rothman, would rather defend their indicted "friend" and Boss, Joe Ferriero, than revive the ethical reputation of the county Democratic Party brand. For the sake of the election, of course.  They can't even agree to make just a token effort to exhibit some modesty over the embarrassing revelations of their grasping, self-serving, patronage, no-bid contract, deadbeat, pay-to-play cluster orgy.

On the national level, Bush and the national Republicans have done what our enemies could not: undermine America's belief in itself.  Undermined is our trust in the honesty, intelligence and competence of the national government.  It happened on multiple fronts, as the Republicans threatened the constitutional fabric of our laws, dismantled the responsible regulation of our economy, fanned the flames of irrationality and set an example of venality and corruption that makes us reminisce fondly of a blue dress and the Marc Rich pardon (at least that reward for malfeasance didn't cost hundreds of billions).   And that's not all.  Under 8 years of Republican executive control, the "World's Only Super Power" has been left in an overextended state of weakness where America is not only more spread out and vulnerable (with Venezuela, Iran and Russia stronger), but our country is more aptly described as on the precipice -- and not of greatness.  

Yet, those who have so ill-served us on the local, county and national levels have an army of political consultants (aka strategic BS professionals) who engage in psychological warfare against the voting public.  The tactics, spin, smears and "talking points" are a professionally constructed reality distortion field designed to frame and shortcircuit voters' critical reasoning.

What to do?

Communicate with your friends, family and neighbors about the issues and personalities. Urge them to vote for Obama/Biden, but not for the BCDO Ferrierocrats who are disingenuously hiding in the Democratic Party column.
